Fox, Fox!!

Last week I shot a no-kidding, real missile!  I'm down at Tyndall, AFB for WSEP, which is an operational test program to evaluate the missiles that we will carry into combat.  It is a really cool program cause it also gives all of us experience in what its like to really shoot a missile.  My shot was a live AIM-120B Amraam, which is a active-radar guided medium range missile.  I should be able to add a video of me shooting at some point.  I actually shot at the same time as my buddy Stall who was flying line abreast and it looked really cool.  When I hit the pickle button I felt a big 'clunk' as the missile got ejected off the jet then the motor fired and it went screaming out in front.  I saw the flame shooting out of the back but it was gone in about three seconds going Mach whatever out of sight.  What an awesome experience!

Yes, it was actually an endangered species of flying fox.
I don't know where the "Fox" came from but that's what we say when we shoot a missile.
